Techmeme to use Twitter to Generate Discussions
Techmeme provides overview of the most popular stories that are doing the rounds. For a while now Techmeme used blog posts, news articles, and press releases to update their news. The latest addition to its sources has been Twitter.
Gabe Rivera, the founder of Techmeme , wrote
for as long as newsmakers have used Twitter, tweets have broken news stories. And yet for Techmeme, linking directly to tweets was never imperative – after all most newsworthy tweets are blogged within minutes, moreover with helpful context
To emphasis the importance of Tweets in today’s internet days, he added

After acknowledging the importance of including Twitter he announced that

Following this the Techmeme page displayed its first Tweet headline.
Though this means that Twitter will also be identified as an important source for generating and identifying news, it is important to note that this will not be the only source of information. Techmeme will continue to use all other sources like blogs, news articles, and formal press releases.
