Mango update attempts to be a savior for the Windows Phone OS by bringing more than 500 new features. The chief amongst these is the ability to multi-task, Twitter and Facebook integration and the availability of new APIs for developers to create more capable applications. The update roll out would normally take 2-3 months before everyone has gotten it, however with the method described below you can get it early. It will work on any phone whether it’s factory unlocked or carrier branded.

The prerequisite for the Mango update is that you need the NoDo + security update before you can get Mango. This means you need the 7392 update before you can proceed to get Mango update.

1. Make sure your phone is fully charged. Connect your phone to your PC and start Zune.
2. Click phone>settings>updates and see if any update is found. If Zune says phone is up to date then move onto the next step. Or if update is found then continue with the update process.
3. Time for a force update. Timing is crucial here so be careful. Click update button again, and when you do immediately disconnect your PC from the Internet by taking out the Ethernet cable or disabling Wi-Fi. You need to do these 1-2 seconds after you click the update button in Zune. If it says your phone is updated then your timing was off. Keep trying and eventually Zune will tell you an update is available.
4. If update found, enable Internet and proceed to update. If it’s the pre-Mango update let it install and then do the same disconnect procedure for Mango.
5. The update procedure is 7008>7390>7392>7403>7720. The last one being the Mango update
6. After the 7403 update Mango should install on its own.

The whole update procedure can take more than 1 hour so make sure you have enough time before you start updating. During update do not disconnect or attempt to use your phone or close Zune. After all updates are completed your phone will restart. You can check the software version by going into settings>about phone. If it says 7720 then you’re running latest version of Mango.

Facebook’s newest addition to the social networking website ‘Facebook Timeline’ has been praised by many critics all over the world. Unfortunately the feature isn’t available for public but if you want to try it we’ve got your fix right here. Just follow with us after the break and enjoy!

1. Got to the Facebook Developer Page and enable it for your account. You will be required to log in to your facebook account if you are not logged in.
2. Once you’re done with the first step click on the Create New App button and enter details. Whatever you name your app doesn’t matter as its not going to be showed publicly so no need to spend time thinking of a name just enter whatever comes to your mind. The same goes for the app namespace, once done with this enter the security words and move on.



3. Now you’ll be greeted by whole new screen, no need to mess with all the shiny things, just click on the Open Graph button on the left(check the picture for reference).



4. Facebook shall ask you to enter an action and an object for your app. Don’t get confused as we are always there to fight the bad people and help you. Enter random things in the options, just like you did earlier in the App name and App Namespace areas. We entered People can review gadget through our app that is pretty much random to us and can’t happen. Once you have entered all the details click on get started.
5. Once again you will be welcomed by another page with all Martian to many of you but like we said before no need to get frightened as we are always there. You don’t need to do anything, just scroll to the bottom and click on the big blue block saying ‘Save changes and Next’. You will be required to do so a couple of time more.
6. You will be taken back to the original Open Graph page, don’t worry its perfectly normal. Sit back and sip a cup of coffee for the next few minutes and then go back to the homepage of facebook (www.facebook.com). There you’ll see a large banner on  the top inviting you to use the all new Facebook Timeline (check the picture for reference).

Viber is a calling and texting service for both Android and iOS. Basically it lets you place calls and text messages for free with the only charges being the ones on your data connection (WiFi or 3G/4G).

The App is similar in some ways to whatsapp except that’s purely a messaging application. You can get it for free off the Android market or Apple’s App store. After that you just need to configure your Viber by verifying your phone number. Once that’s done, you can open the contacts tab at the bottom. This gives you a list of all of your cell phone’s contacts and those that have Viber installed have a small “Viber” written next to their name.  You can then freely place calls, there is no time limit on calls and no international charges whatsoever. Call quality is top notch, I have been using the app for a few months and it has worked flawlessly every time.

Another good point about the application is that it works just as your normal calling and messaging app. As long as Viber is open in the background, you get your usual text message notifications (Viber messages) and missed call notifications aswell.  If you have a lot of contact using Android or iOS, definitely try it out, its free as mentioned earlier and works great.

As some of you may already know, Dropbox is a cloud storage similar to Microsoft’s Skydrive. You can sign up for it at the Dropbox website and get instant access to 2GB of storage for free which you can use to sync files to and fro from many devices. This guide will show you how to use Dropbox as an added storage to your Android and iOS device.

Step1: Go to www.dropbox.com and sign up for a new account. You can choose from different packages, for now go for the 2GB one which is free.

Step2: Download the Dropbox application for your PC and sign in with the ID you made in step 1.

Step3: Once this is done, you will get a new folder named Dropbox on your desktop. Once you add files in this folder, the folder will sync to the cloud and you can access those files anywhere you wish.

Step4: Now download Dropbox for Android or iOS, its free. Once the installation is completed, open the application.

Step5: If you had any data in the Dropbox folder it should be visible on your mobile device now. You can download whatever files you need and upload any aswell by choosing the upload option in the menu.

And that’s it, the steps are simple enough to follow and once you’re done, you’ll love Dropbox. You can save all your important files on your Dropbox and access them anywhere you want. You could even backup your whole music library onto your Dropbox and access it through your smartphone. There are lots of applications out there to remotely control your PC, and one of the easiest ones to use is Teamviewer. Most of you will probably be familiar with Teamviewer for your Windows PC or Mac but the application is also available on iOS and Android both of which are free. We’ll be looking at the Android version for now.

Unlike other apps that require you to forward ports or set up IP addresses for connecting to a PC, Teamviewer works flawlessly and doesn’t need much time to set up.

• First of you need to go the Teamviewer website to download the Desktop app and set it up, this will give you a Unique Partner ID and Password.
• Now go to the App market or head over HERE to download the mobile version of the app.
• You now need to open the app, enter your PC’s Partner ID and Password and that’s it. Teamviewer connects you to your Desktop PC or laptop.

The program works flawlessly, with simple controls, pinch to zoom functionality, single finger clicks register as “left clicks on your mouse” and double finger clicks register as right clicks. You can move the cursor by panning the screen with one finger and you have shortcuts at the top and bottom of your device to perform functions such as bring up a full size virtual keyboard to type remotely on.
You can use the program to control your PC from afar, to play/pause movies or music, reply to someone on Messenger and basically do what you want. You could even use it in the same way to connect to your friend’s PCs to help them out if they need it.
Overall the app is great, it works as it should with my only problem being that it doesn’t offer more for the mobile version, you can’t for example stream music or videos from your PC onto your device, it simply acts as an input device, which is not such a bad thing as it keeps things simple and easy to use.

If you are not already aware, Youtube recently introduced Creative Commons License in there video sharing options. This means that if you are a content creator then you have the option to grant permission to someone else for using your work (Video). Youtube allows attribution – reuse options under Creative Commons with the help of which you can now use the videos under YouTube Video Editor.

How to mark your Youtube video as Creative Commons

You can enable the Creative Commons options with following ways:
1. While Uploading Videos, you can choose from “Broadcasting and Sharing Options”>License>Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed).

2.While going to your video page. You can choose any video and go to its “Edit” Option. There you can find the settings mentioned in Step1.

3. You can go to YouTube Video Editor and choose to search from videos under “CC” options.

After the beta launch of iOS 4.3, Apple has released jailbreak for iOS 4.3. Now you can use PwnageTool bundle to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on fourth generation iPod touch. This bundle can be used to custom create jailbroken 4.3 firmware file on your 4G iPod touch. But remember this is a tethered jailbreak so you will have to restart the device in a tethered-jailbroken mode using tetheredboot utility.

Note – PwnageTool is available only for Mac users for now and is coming soon for Window users.

Here is the guide to Jailbreak iPod Touch 4G on iOS 4.2.1 using PwnageTool for Mac.

Things you will need:

• PwnageTool 4.2
• 4.2.1 iPod Touch Firmware
• 4.2.1 (4G): iPod4,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw

Step 1

Create a folder called “Pwnage” on desktop and IPSW file works best when downloaded using Firefox and Safari.

Step 2

Double Click and drag the PwnageTool icon to the Pwnage Folder, to launch PwnageTool application. Click OK if you get warning from DevTeam.

Step 3

Select “Expert Mode” from the available top menu bar.

Step 4

Upon selecting your iPod, you will locate a check-mark on phone image. Then proceed with the blue given arrow to continue.

Step 5

You will then find “Browse for IPSW” page. Click on it and select your firmware from Pwnage folder to Open from the popup window.

Step 6

From the options available click “General” that will allow you to decide the partition size. Then click next with the blue arrow.

Step 7

Now the Pwnage process is ready to start, click the “Build” button to and click next to begin.

Step 8

Now PwnageTool will generate custom cooked iOS 4.3.1 for your device. Save your custom .ipws file and save it to the Pwnage folder present at Desktop. Building IPSW might take 10 minutes and enter admin password after the process.

Step 9

Now Pwnage tool will ask you to put your device in DFU mode, make sure you are connected to the Machine via data cable. PwnageTool will Snow guide you to put your iPod into DFU mode.

Step 10

After your iPhone is successfully incorporate in DFU mode, Pwnage will prompt you to launch iTunes. Hold the Alt/Option key and click Restore in iTunes.

Step 11

Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop using the dialog window that appears. Select the custom IPSW that was created and click the Choose button.

Step 12

iTunes will now restore the firmware on your iPod. This can also take up to 10 minutes. Once done you will be rebooted into jailbroken iPod OS 4.2.1!

You can easily create a shortcut on your desktop, for a program that is already available on your system. For the most part, most programs that are installed in the system usually suggest that they create a shortcut automatically on your desktop. Nevertheless, if you have not opted for that or the program does not prompt for it during installation, you can still go ahead and easily create a shortcut on the desktop.

To create a shortcut for a program, complete the following steps:

1. On the Desktop, right-click the place that you want to place the shortcut.

This displays the options.

2. Click New, and then click Shortcut.

This displays the Create Shortcut dialog box.

3.    In the Type the location of the item: box, type the program along with the location. Alternately, click the Browse button and navigate to the executable file of the program.

4.    Click Next.

5.    In the Type a name for this shortcut:, type the name you want to use for the shortcut.

6.    Click Finish.

This creates a shortcut on the desktop of the program’s executable file, with the name that you required.

XDA-Developers have developed the reputation of working very hard to improve the community and have been instrumental in creating new and improved updates. The latest innovation was created by a member called antsm. He has made modifications to the Phone.apk. The modification that he has come up with will now enable Galaxy S I9000 users to automatically record calls. With the help of fellow XDA member Dark3n the phone has an application that will enable users to control the new feature of being able to automatically record calls. This change too has been made to the Phone.apk.

Collectively, XDA-Developers have provided an application that helps users to keep track of calls, while allowing them the freedom to use or not use the new feature.

Features include:

• Automatic call recording for incoming/outgoing calls
• Added template system for flexible naming of records. No boring VoiceRecord001.amr anymore (see /sdcard/.rec_template file for template and more info).
• Disabled stop recording on some actions related to multi-line calling (i.e Hold, Conference mode, etc)

Motorola Xoom has been one of the most interesting tablet of 2011, for the features it provides and its uniqueness of being the first tablet with a dual processor. Now, for all those that were waiting for this update, it is finally here. The Motorola XOOM has a root method available for it. Koush, the developer of the ROM Manager App,came up with a easy root method.  This, however, is just the beginning and ROM Manager is not yet available as of now.

Nevertheless, if a user wants to get a started on the Root, the following is what must be done:

• Download the XOOM root zip.
• Unzip the package.
• Put your junk in the box.
• adb reboot bootloader (skip the next 3 steps if you have already unlocked via fastboot)
• fastboot oem unlock
• wait for reboot
• adb reboot bootloader
• fastboot flash boot rootboot.img
• fastboot reboot
• wait for reboot
• adb remount
• adb shell push su /system/bin
• adb shell ln –s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su
• adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
• adb push Superuser.apk /system/app

The SD Card slot will be locked out once these steps are completed. However, this does not mean that one can use a custom recovery. It will get enabled when Google, Motorola or the developer community enables it.

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is now available for download from the Microsoft Download Center. With Windows 7 SP1 your personal computer will receive ongoing updates and support, as opposed to getting updates through Windows Update. Additionally, it includes client-side support for RemoteFX and Dynamic Memory, the two virtualization features enabled in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

There are three ways you can download and install the Windows 7 SP1:

• Through Windows Update
• Install it after downloading Windows 7 SP1 from the Microsoft website
• Install it using an installation DVD

However, even before installation, it is important to note that there are some disk space requirements that need to be met to install Windows 7 SP1.

The entire installation is estimated to take 30 minutes, according to the Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1. Additionally, halfway through the installation, you will have to restart the system.

Once the installation is complete you can check if the latest version has been installed successfully by checking the computer properties. In the Properties dialog box, if Service Pack 1 is listed under Windows edition, it indicates that the installation has been successful.

Gmail is certainly one of the most advanced web email provider available today. Along with excellent storage space, fantastic search functionality and less complexity, it carries all required qualities you can ask in an email-client. Many of us use Gmail for all kind of email communications as it is fast and reliable. So, most of us also end up registering several Gmail Accounts for different purpose. But it becomes difficult to access all accounts at once on the one browser.

Previously, you had to log out from one account in order to access another account if you are working on one same browser. But not anymore, Google has come up with new feature that lets you login to various Gmail/Google accounts in the same browser. This new feature removes the need of signing out or using a different browser for using various accounts at once.

Steps to unable multiple account access in one browser:

• Go to google.com/accounts
• Locate multiple sign-in option in personal setting, click on edit

• Turn on multiple Google account in the same browser (select each checkboxes)
• Save the settings and your done!

Note – If you use multiple sign-in, the first account you sign in to will be your default account. If you visit other Google products that don’t support multiple accounts after you’ve signed in, you will automatically sign in to your default account for that product. If you sign out of any Google product while signed in to any account, you will be signed out of all your Google Accounts at once. This feature can also be disabled by going through the same process.

You must also know this multiple account sign-in feature is not supportable for few Google service like Blogger and Picasa web albums etc. As of now it supports App Engine, Code, Calendar, Gmail, Reader, Sites and Voice. Further it is restricted to desktop browser and not enabled for mobile phones!
