What’s the best way to get information online? Google ofcourse. That’s the first word that comes to our mind when we want to look for something and although a lot of companies such as Microsoft through Bing have tried to replace Google as our favorite source of information, Google has always stayed ahead. Wolfram Alpha for android is an application that will give you google like services in one way.
Instead of returning website results when you search for something, Wolfram Alpha will provide you information instead; call it an encyclopedia if you will. Search for Facebook for example and it tells your Facebook Inc. is set up in Palo Alto, California, United States, has daily views of 8.2billion and is the no. 2 site on the net. It even tells you it stared 15years ago in 1997 and shows Facebook’s HTML element hierarchy aswell. What other search engine does that when you search for something?

Similarly you can search for any other topic, searching for a sky chart for your area will show you a 3D view of the globe with constellations mapped onto it. Search for something like “Divide 10 by 2” and it will give you a detailed answer as show below with detailed steps, a pie chart AND a number line!

You can try searching on literally anything you want and get immediate results with every detail you can imagine, the search engine is very clever and the app works great. Its quite simple aswell with only a full size keyboard on screen, which by the way is splendid, it’s a custom keyboard for the app itself not the keyboard you are using on your Android device. Surprisingly the keyboard in the app alone is very accurate and great to type on.
You can use Wolfram Alpha for much more complicated things aswell. Hit the menu key and enter the examples menu and you have a whole list of example search terms in a variety of topics such as Maths, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Computer Sciences, Units and Measures, Dates and Times, weather, health, nutrition, linguistics and much more!
Try searching your surname for example and you’ll get population estimates, where you belong from, the weather and time in your area etc or use it solve maths problems such as plotting a quadratic equation on a graph.
Wolfram Alpha is a life saver, it doesn’t really matter who you are or what you do, Wolfram Alpha will help you out in every way possible and give answers to everything you want. Its for $2 on the Android market but considering the amount of information you get at your finger tips with the app, I’d say its totally worth it. Brought to you by the same person responsible for the previously reviewed Uber Music Windows 7-esque music player, Launcher Pro is one of the best launchers for Android, albeit an old one but its still worth mentioning for those who haven’t tried it yet.

Launcher Pro is free on the android market and it has everything you could possibly want, lots of customization, great looks and speed all packed into one.
On the customization front, Launcher Pro has a lot to offer. Get into the settings menu and you’ll start to see the power of this app. You can set up to a maximum of 7 home screens which is standard on most launchers, but Launcher Pro has some really cool transitional effects. You have 4-6 transitional effects to choose from such as flip and rotate that look amazing in action, you can enable missed call, messages and mails count for your dock icons, auto rotate the screen to landscape mode aswell as the default portrait and do much more. You can customize literally everything about the launcher down to small details such as how fast the app drawer opens!

Launcher Pro also has its own Facebook, Twitter, People, Calendar (below) and Gmail widgets. They look great but they are almost identical to the stock HTC Sense widgets (which are beautiful anyway).

The most surprising thing about the launcher though is the speed, in my experience on my HTC Desire it actually runs faster than the stock HTC Sense launcher. Speed can be a problem with 3rd party launchers that offer a lot of eye candy and end up compromising on the speed front but Launcher Pro works just great.
If you’re looking for a 3rd party launcher, you have many options such as Go Launcher EX, ADW Launcher, SPB Shell 3D and many more, but uptil now, Launcher Pro is my personal favourite. Each of these launchers offers something unique and none of them is laggy but Federico Carnales has delved into a lot more detail with Launcher Pro. Its as fast as can be and offers some truly unique features you won’t find elsewhere. The app is free on the Android Market. Most of us know about the popular image sharing website Flickr, which has owned by Yahoo since 2005. Two weeks ago they released V1.0 of the official Flickr app and we have to say it works flawlessly.

Upon launching the app, you can sign in with your Yahoo ID or create one, once you’re done with that, you’ll get to the main Flickr screen. Here you have 4 tabs. The right most tab sends you to the built-in camera app that you can use to take pictures, add a filter if you wish and then upload it to Flickr. You can tag the images and add descriptions just like on the desktop site and even enable geo tagging aswell. The other three tabs list your activity, your Flickr profile and your contacts list.

Apart from uploading your photos to Flickr, you can also link your Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, WordPress account and upload a photo to all of those networks simultaneously which makes it a snap to share your pictures with all your social networks.
There isn’t much to say about the app other than that, it works like it should and offers some great features you wouldn’t find in 3rd party Flickr apps so do you check it out if you haven’t already at the App Store.

Harbor Master is an iPhone, iPod Touch app available on the Apple app store. It is currently half price at 99 cents. Harbor Master is a simple game where you have to direct each ship to the right port in the harbour. You then have to watch the cargo get unloaded and get them out of the port as quickly as possible. However, you have be aware of the cyclones, pirates and sea monsters!

The game is a very simple idea but is one of my favourite games as the ports get busier and busier as you progress. The size of vessels get harder also, there are some slow large tankers, fast medium sized tanker and speedy, small cargo boats. These multiple varieties of boats keep you interested and hooked to the game.

In order to move the boats you simply have to draw a line from the boat to the destination, as seen above. Using different colours you need to make sure the correct cargo gets to the correct port. You can see that tankers can have cargo from both colours, above. But will you be able to unload the cargo for one port and then get it quickly to the other port without crashing or holding up other boats?

As well as the single player mode you can also play multi player with other Apple devices via Bluetooth. The idea is simple get as many cargo boats unloaded before one of you crashes, the one with the most cargo unloaded wins. This game will release your competitive streak!

With seven exciting maps there is always something to do. Each map has a different scenario, some have pirates, some have monsters, some have 3 colours of cargo and some have smugglers trying to steal your cargo!

The graphics on Harbor Master look fantastic and make great use of the Retina HD display on the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch.

With Game Center capabilities you can see how good your friends are and try beat their scores. In my opinion Harbor Master is one of the best line games available with fast paced and addictive gameplay!

Following so much tweeples is such mess when we have over does of updates on public timelines. Recently, I found a new app which help you to manage and analyze your Twitter profile and community. SocialBro is a nice tool which is based on Adobe Air and offers different search criteria together with filters for all your followers.

To use this app, all you have to do is login by using Twitter account and after logging in you find lots of options based on your followers and friends. By using this app, you can easily find who is not following you and also whom you are not following. In other words, we can also say that it offer all details of your account.

It’s incredible, a lot of online color tools are often better than local free software I’ve seen. Depending on what you need to do you can be quite sure to find what you need online. Each time I needed I searched and tried some of the online tools and I noticed that it’s only when I’m really using them that I find out how useful they are.

If you’re tackling some graphic design project or maybe even your wall decor, getting color hints from ready made color templates from professional designers can be useful. Below are 10 of the better sites to help you out on your design challenge.

These are the ones I found myself using the most:

• ColorSynth Axis: This is amazing, it’s the most advanced color shemer I’ve seen. It’s worth going though the tutorial.
• Slayer Office’s color palette blender: This is the one I use most, it’s simple but amply enough for common use.
• ColorMatch Redux: Because it can export to .ACT, .AI and text. I use all 3 of them.

COLOURlovers this is pretty close to color mecca. This post should actually be filed as a Timewaster because you can spend hours checking out the various palettes and patterns and rolling your own. The site is full of features such as create your own palette from a URL you’re inspired by, join groups devoted to colors (srsly), shore up on the latest color trends, contribute your own content and vote on others.

ColorCombos – nice color palettes to choose from. If there’s a particular website whose colors you want to snag, check out their “Grab Website Colors” engine. You just input the URL of the site you’re reviewing and ColorCombos extracts the palette for you.

ColorExplorer – another site that’s feature rich and full of color goodies. Color import from images, palette export to most programs, convert any number of colors into a matching palette, 1 click palette filters and adjustments, plus no requirement for site registration.

ColorJack – very nice color site featuring several apps such as Color Sphere which allows you to choose the right color scheme supporting 18 formulas and 9 color blindness simulations. There’s also Color Galaxy, an online color visualizer with colors from 27 libraries including everyone’s favorite forever and ever, Crayola.

Kuler - not surprisingly, Adobe has a fetching web app to help you generate color schemes and if you have Adobe’s Creative Suite 4, Kuler is built in. Kuler has great tools such as color extractor from an image, theme creation from 1 to several colors, as well as a community you can join and give and receive comments on yours and other’s creations.

Color Scheme Generator - your basic color tool, nothing fancy. Nice online tool to generate color schemes and palettes to create good-looking and well balanced and harmonic web pages.

Color Hunter - allows you to create and find color palettes from photographs.

Frame images are images that decorate the pictures you have taken with the camera on your mobile phone. You can use these frame images when taking pictures with the camera on your mobile phone, or when editing the pictures you have taken with the camera on your mobile phone.

Frame images should be created so they conform to the following conditions.
By downloading image files that conform to the following conditions with a frame image download compatible mobile phone, the image will be recognized as a frame image and saved in the data storage area in the mobile phone.

• The extension of the file is “.ifm”.
• The image is a transparent GIF file.
• The image size is one that can be recognized as a frame image1.

Features of frame images:
FOMA:Besides the pictures that have been taken with the phone’s camera, it is possible to combine frames with any distributable image, including those downloaded from i-mode sites.
Combined files take the attributes of the ones they are created from.
Transferring frame images beyond your mobile phone:Due to the native function operation of the mobile phone, downloaded frame images by themselves cannot be transferred beyond the mobile phone. However, like picture images, frame images combined with picture images can be transferred beyond the mobile phone. When providing frame images as contents, it is a requirement that combined images are able to be transferred beyond the mobile phone.
mova:Frame images cannot be combined with images that have been taken from i-mode sites and i-shot servers (i.e downloaded images).
Combining frame images:Users can combine frame images saved in the terminal with picture images taken with the camera on their mobile phones. The picture image will appear in the transparent area of the frame image. The combined image will be saved in the same JPEG format as the picture image. Frame images are combined with picture images in actual size without being enlarged or made shrunk. Frame images that are different in size from picture images cannot be combined with those picture images.

There are plenty of online image editors out there, but it can be tough to find the right one. If you’re looking for a few filters, a bit of layer support, and a decent range of tools, Pixlr might be the one you want.While it’s not the most full-featured image editor you’ll ever use, Pixlr makes it fairly easy to do some sophisticated (and unsophisticated) things with images online.You’ll be familiar with its tools from using desktop apps like Photoshop and The Gimp, but it’s rare to see so many advances options in a web app.The Flash-based web app has an impressive set of tools, from a text engine that can use nearly any font available on your computer to layers and filters for masking and effects, respectively.Incredibly, there’s even a multilevel undo! You can import images from your machine or via URL, or paint something up yourself, and either way save it to your desktop. It’s fun to play around with, though quickly frustrating if you’re used to more powerful tools.

Some of the Pixlr perks that surprised me: opacity sliders! Layers and transparency! The collection of filters includes halftones, scanlines and pixelation. Common (but useful) features like hue/saturation, resizing, and brightness/contrast are also intact. Next time you find yourself on a computer without Photoshop, you might also find you don’t need it.The application supports layers, filters and most basic editting tools and when you are ready you can save the image to your desktop as a JPG or PNG.
