Swiftkey X Keyboard for Android
Everybody knows how customizable Android is. It’s the customizability that’s the main driving force behind the popularity of the platform. And it’s just because of this that different manufacturers like Samsung and HTC chose to use their own custom UIs that appeal to different users. And with these UIs come custom keyboards. Keyboard is a strictly personal choice usually, however if it’s a badly designed one, no one will like it, and if it hits the spot, you know you have a winner. Swiftkey X attempts to create a keyboard that will make users switch from their default ones by offering a slew of features not present on other apps.
The main selling point behind Swiftkey is its excellent prediction system. Usually this is a sore subject for most keyboards, however Swiftkey has taken up the issue and by large done a decent job of resolving it. The keyboard offers plenty of features. It’s based on the new version of TouchType’s advanced Fluency language inference engine, which according to Swiftkey is the world’s most accurate prediction and correction technology. There are a number of prediction methods the app offers. Choosing ‘precise’ means you let the application finish off words for you. Rapid means you tend to write words in full but aren’t very good with spellings; Swiftkey then takes care of this as well. Being an Android app, it also offers theming. There are a variety of themes to choose from for example light, dark or neon. Swiftkey can also analyze data from your Facebook, Twitter and SMS to adapt to your writing style. This helps in more accurate prediction and correction. No personalized data is used. Heat-map visualization technology analyzes your typing accuracy to make predictions more effective. The app supports pretty much all major languages from English to Dutch and anything in between. It also supports different keyboard layouts like QWERTY AZERTY and QZERTY depending on which region you use it.
There are two versions of this app, free and paid and they differ in the amount of features they offer. The app is much better than the default keyboards that usually accompany Android devices. Some of the features it offers are not found on other alternate app and as far as prediction goes, this is the best keyboard available on the Android market at the moment.
