Niche Networking, the Next Big Thing in Social Networking

While there are a lot of social networking sites already available in the internet space, social networking as a concept is taking a different turn. Niche networking as the name suggests is created only for particular needs. It is a step further from regular social networking that connects likeminded people to discuss things that they are passionate about.

Rahul Razdan, President Product and Operations, ibibo said to the Hindustan Times

On popular social networking sites, often just 10 per cent of all your friends or colleagues are really active or posting information. The others just consume what is being posted. But niche social networks are all together a different activity where you end up contributing and reading about what really tugs your heart and mind.

Yogesh Bansal, Founder & CEO, ApnaCircle said

Changing user requirements are giving birth to various networking sites which are specifically responsible to cater to the ‘niche’ target audience in terms of their specific interests, backgrounds, professions and age group

Experts believe that Niche networking is a space where people that share interests can meet. It will be used as a platform for specific interests and will be used by only the audiences that are passionate about their common interests. This is considered the next step in the world of social networking. For more information, see the Hindustan Times.

  1. The problem with social networks is that the novelty is wearing off. Users are tired of being bombarded with status updates and silly videos from people they barely know. We’re all suffering from status update overload, and when was the last time you even checked your DM’s on twitter? I know i haven’t looked at mine for weeks because I just don’t have the time. Niches for social networks are the obvious way forward as people are realising how much time they are wasting looking at stuff of no interest to them.

  15. Thanks for the tips about credit repair on this amazing blog. What I would tell people is always to give up this mentality they will buy at this moment and pay out later. As a society most of us tend to try this for many issues. This includes family vacations, furniture, and also items we would like. However, you’ll want to separate your current wants from all the needs. When you’re working to raise your credit score you have to make some sacrifices. For example you may shop online to economize or you can check out second hand shops instead of high-priced department stores intended for clothing.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
