Reports suggest that Google is ready to release its next big iteration to the Android – Ice Cream Sandwich. They have again gone with the name of a desert; this tradition has been a continuation to their earlier iterations being called Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, and Honeycomb. Now Ice Cream Sandwich will be its latest iteration. The name of this iteration has been leaked and has not had any official confirmation from Google.

As of now, reports suggest that Ice Cream Sandwich will be a tablet-specific version of the Android. Additionally, it has been reported that this version will not be a part of the main stream development process for Android; meaning that it will have its own development process apart from the main Android development process.
It has also been reported that this will be a version that combines two different Android operating systems (OS). It is said to combine the Google OS for phones called Gingerbread, and its counterpart OS for tablets called Honeycomb. Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman of Google, is reported to have said at the Mobile World Congress 2011
The two of them… you can imagine the follow up will start with an I, be named after dessert, and will combine these two
He is reported to have said this when he was talking about the new iteration that would integrate the two operating systems.
