After acquiring the majority stake in Beats Electronics for $300 million, HTC have announced their first smartphone with the Beats technology. When Beats Electronics was acquired HTC said “the deal will bring high quality audio to mobile phones” and it now looks like that is happening.
Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, on the Beats technology said
It’s an exciting brand that has been built around providing something very special, and we believe our strategic partnership will provide customers with unbeatable sound on HTC phones. We obsess over every detail of a consumer’s mobile experience and audio is a critical part of that experience.
The new technology features in the HTC Sensation XE, which is a more powerful Sensation smartphone. The XE features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, the normal Sensation has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. There is also a more powerful 1730mAh battery providing a longer battery life. With Beats technology the phone is supposed to deliver the best sound experience currently available on the smartphone market.
The HTC Sensation XE also features red colouring on the case to fit in with other Beats products.
As well as the technology in built the phone also comes with a custom pair of Beats by Dre headphones which retail at £100. The phone detects when these headphones are inserted automatically and then switches to a specific sound profile by Beats electronics. Coupled together the headphones and sound profile provide crisp clear lyrics, fuller bass and higher level of clarity that on any smartphone.
The smartphone is set to start shipping in September.
