The new maps launched by Google for the Android phones possess many features that the users might not even know. Google is experimenting so much with its map app and coming out with many innovative features every day. The latest being the ‘Labs section’. The new features of the Google maps can be uncovered by following a few steps –
- Go to the map app
- Tap the on-screen menu button (in case of touchscreen handsets), or press the menu button
- Select the option of ‘Settings’
- Select the option of ‘Labs’
Since Google is constantly upgrading its maps and the applications, the application of ‘Lab’ is varying forever. At present, the following four optional add-ons are available that can be activated on the ‘Google Maps Labs’ –
- Option of ‘Intersection Explorer’
- Option of ‘Measure’
- Option of ‘Directions Elevation’
- Option of ‘Bigger Text’
Intersection Explorer – It is a feature that helps you to locate the intersections of the streets and roads. The app will show you the direction and will also take the names of the streets and intersections you are crossing.
Measure – With a tap on the screen, you will be able to measure the distance, elevation etc., of the place between your current position and the places you would like to visit.
Directions Elevation – This app provides the direction and the elevation between two places. It is an app, which provides the exact measurement of elevation of the terrains.
Bigger Text – It is obvious by the name itself. Google is now offering bigger texts on its map app, for the users so that they can read them out without any problem.
