While surfing on internet you see a site which is using nice looking fonts and you want to use it on your site but unfortunately do not know the name of that font. Then what do you do? The first thing you do, is look into source code and the other thing you do is search for third-party applications. But what do you do, if that site contains many fonts? Then it becomes hard to find that font. No need to take so much pain in finding that font because there is a chrome extension which allows you to find a font in single click. WhatFont is a Google Chrome Extension which identifies all the fonts used on a webpage and offers you in-depth detail like which font family the font is from, what font size has been used, the weight and the line height. It can identify and give complete details of all fonts used anywhere on a single page of a website. This extension has a drawback that it does not identify fonts used in images.

It is the easiest way to identify web fonts and in this post I’m sharing a simple how to guide which clearly shows how you identify a font in any webpage.

Step1: First install the extension using this link

Step2: Click on install button to install this extension.

Step3: Now, hover on text and you will see the font in a little black box.

Step4: You can easily see the font we are using on TechProne little black box.

That’s it Isn’t that easy? It is a very simple extension but will be helpful when it comes to web designing and blogging. Do you find it useful, then why not share this extension with your friends?

If you are using Google Chrome and Gmail in it then you might be interested in the new desktop notification features that Google has introduced. Many a times it may happen that you are working on other browser window and miss out on some important chat or email that you received in your Gmail. Now you will not miss any conversation as Google has introduced HTML5 based desktop notifications that shows a pop-up whenever a chat message or new email arrives.

Google’s Andrew Wilson said –

Many of us are guilty of constantly switching back to Gmail to check for new messages. And if you’re like me, you’ve probably missed an important chat message because you weren’t looking at your Gmail window when it came in,

If you use Google Chrome, these days can be over since we just launched HTML5 desktop notifications which display pop-ups whenever a chat message or new email arrive

You might have noticed “update desktop notification” showing by default on top of your inbox and if you have missed, then to activate this feature, go to Gmail settings and activate desktop notifications. You can also customize it so you only receive Gmail or Gchat notifications, or only priority inbox notifications.

2.As an Extenstions

On Google Chrome extension for checking IP their is a nice tutorial of “How to install extensions for Google Chrome”.

The basic requirement to run the extensions is the Google Chrome developer version installed in your system. After installing developers and beta versions you need to go to the Google Chrome icon on the desktop. On the Chrome icon Right click and go to the properties then Go to Shortcuts and add the –enable-extensions in the end. (for example C:\Users\honey\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe –enable-extensions ). After all this Restart / Launch the Google Chrome.
