4 awesome Real time search engines

by himanshu on June 27, 2009 · 4 comments

Last month we heard  the rumors everywhere that Google is bringing its own real time search engine and Google buying Twitter. So what is the main advantage of  real time search engines?

The importance of real time search engine is  it tell you what’s happening right now on any matter. There are lots of search engines present on the web which is able to tell about the current hot topics and latest news on different topics.

There are some disadvantages of such search engines as they don’t provide filtered news so we can also get some spams results, but there are some intelligent search engines available which can stick to you from filtered results.

real time

1)   Twitter: The king of every search engine, recently everyone saw the power of Twitter while Iran elections and death of Pop giant Michael Jackson. We got every single feed related to MJ on twitter. So twitter actually works on Discovery engine which give you real time results.

2)  Scoopler Now this is my favorite one. Why? Because Scoopler results divided into two columns, one with live content and the other with results depends upon popularity. Also the page updates automatically without refreshing the page. It gives results and news stories from: Twitpic, Twitter, Digg, Delicious, Flickr, and Identica and links from all the top blogs of the world. Also there is an option of image in which you can see the top images on Flickr and Twitpic. A must try search engine.

3)   Oneriot: According to Oneriot “OneRiot crawls the links people share on Twitter, Digg and other social sharing services, and then indexes the content on those pages in seconds. The end result is a search experience that allows users to find the freshest, most socially-relevant content from across the real-time web.”

It is used efficiently by  searching for a certain domain name and see that what have been shared most from the website on a web.

4)  Tweetmeme: Tweetmeme is a UK basedsearch engine. The owner of website is Kevin Rose who owns Digg.com.

Update: Oops! I made a blunder here by quoting the wrong owner of  Tweetmeme. I deeply aplologize for my mistake, I got to know about my mistake from a blog comment and when i traced the tweet of Mr.Nick Halstead just few minutes back http://twitter.com/nickhalstead/status/2374703671.  Mr. Nick Halstead is CEO of tweetmeme and i deeply apologize for my mistake specially to him.

Tweetmeme point out three basic things: level of retweets, keywords and article relevance .The basic concept behind Tweetmeme is number of tweets and real time news. The news becomes more and more famous if it gets more and more number of Tweets in a real time and comes at the first page. The news on the front page automatically got famous by more and more exposure.
